Spring is in the air and it’s one of my favourite seasons to design for…explosions of colour, blossoming blooms and an uplifting mood. After a thorough catwalk analysis for a client, I honed in on specific shows that suited the ethos of the client and then took focussed print direction, the result of which are a few snapshots enclosed. I am unable to show the finalised selected print until they are in store and online due to copyright restrictions.
The first designs pay homage to the flower power vibes of the late 60s, naive stylised wallpaper style florals in paint pot brights and saturated pastels. These prints must be kept relatively simplified in terms of colouration and appearance due to a limitation of 6 colour screens.
The second design heats things up with a tropical cornucopia of exotic florals and palms. These started life as some pen and biro drawings which were then digitalised and modified. Rich harmonious greens with a charming pop of colour, reminiscent of vintage bark cloth designs. Again screen restrictions mean I can only create this repeat with 6 colours – what a challenge!!
